a day of Aussie firsts, part one: kangaroos

On Saturday we got up before 6am to take a trip outside Melbourne with Liz and Adam from work. Liz was running a marathon (!) and Adam wanted to surf. We headed to Torquay, on the Great Ocean Road, for the early start and enjoyed the incredible view.

After dropping Liz at the start of her race, we headed to a nearby Golf course and jumped the fence so Adam could show us some kangaroos, up close, in real life! We saw a few in the fields on our journey and Adam thought it was ridiculous that we were so excited. I suppose it’s like seeing a cow in a field in England.

We did a lot of fence hopping on Saturday. In one picture you can see a little Joey popping his head out of his ma’s pouch. Although we first mistook it for something else.
